Innovating Campus Life - Chatbots Make Learning Smarter
The Smart Living Era Has Arrived - Seeking the Key to Innovation
With technological advances, many products and services that previously only appeared in science fiction are now becoming reality. Currently, the world’s most watched trends include IoT, artificial intelligence, VR, AR, and blockchain technology applications across various fields. Particularly in artificial intelligence, the flourishing development of deep learning has improved capabilities in image recognition, semantic recognition, and more, providing organizations with opportunities for innovation. On the other hand, the proliferation of smartphones has extended many services to the mobile level. People have gradually become accustomed to smartphones in their daily lives, with behaviors like searching for information and making purchases increasingly done on phones for the most convenient service. Therefore, recent technological developments and smartphone proliferation have become keys for organizations seeking innovation in services or internal operations.
Shih Chien University and Lychee Intelligence Collaborate to Create Innovative Smart Campus
Every field is seeking innovation, and the education industry is no exception. Universities are all thinking about how to make learning resources more accessible to students and how to reduce administrative labor costs while improving service levels. Shih Chien University has been tirelessly seeking better solutions to improve student learning quality in educational innovation, hence being listed among the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Excellence Universities. Beyond improving teaching content, Shih Chien University adopted the hottest chatbot technology to create more value and partnered with Lychee Intelligence to create Taiwan’s first chatbot-powered smart campus. Through chatbot implementation, many campus and learning information that was previously accessed through traditional channels (such as phone calls, web searches) has been extended to smartphone mobile services. Unlike building an app, Shih Chien University’s Unibot is built on LINE - the instant messaging software with 98% penetration rate in Taiwan. Students don’t need to specifically download a new app and can use the chatbot service on their commonly used instant messaging software.
Innovative Breakthrough - Learning Effectiveness Assessment Evolves
In the chatbot smart campus project created by Shih Chien University and Lychee Intelligence, there’s a special chatbot application - the Intelligent Bidirectional Learning Effectiveness Assessment System. Previously, learning effectiveness assessments were mainly conducted through paper forms or online surveys at the end of the semester. The school found that both paper and online survey methods had their own drawbacks. Since this assessment holds significant reference value for schools when reviewing whether teachers are suitable for teaching, it is highly valued. This innovative learning effectiveness assessment system is equipped with Lychee Intelligence’s patent-pending key technology, improving the shortcomings of traditional survey methods. Beyond the advantages of more engaging responses and unrestricted survey timing and location, the system design can determine the validity of student responses, analyze the text from student responses to extract main opinions, and evaluate based on word usage, ultimately presenting reports for school reference.
Riding the Trend - Toward Smart Living
Major enterprises globally are seeking innovation, whether in internal knowledge management or mobile service delivery of products and services. Seizing opportunities and designing good products and services centered on users to meet their needs is crucial. In the education industry, Shih Chien University has made student learning and information access smarter through the combination of intelligent chatbots with administrative FAQs, knowledge, and daily life information that students commonly need. Through Unibot, more value has been created - both in learning effectiveness assessment and bilingual consultation at the International Affairs Office, providing students with innovative and more convenient service experiences.
